Dear Humber Valley families –
There have been a number of developments on the path to return-to-play over the last week.
Return-to-Play Update
Last week, the GTHL held its annual general meeting. As expected, much of the discussion centered around return-to-play. The GTHL is in the process of finalizing its plan and have announced that they will release a comprehensive framework, including target dates, format of play by level (house league, A & AA), as well as safety requirements on August 31st. While there are signs that GTHL sanctioned hockey will resume in the fall, the message to all clubs was clear – a gradual approach to normal operations will be required to ensure the safety of all players, coaches, officials, volunteers and families.
A/AA GTHL Registration Update
The GTHL has announced that they will be opening A & AA player registration for the 2020-21 season on September 8th. More information on this process will be shared in the coming weeks. For Humber Valley A & AA players who have registered within our house league system, there is no action required at this time. We will be in touch with direction if any action to transfer registration is required.
Humber Valley Return-to-Play Survey
We would like to thank all the families that took the time to complete our return-to-play survey. Your feedback is incredibly valuable in helping us to determine what our programs will look like when we are given the green light to return-to-play. Overwhelmingly, we heard that more information on safety protocols as well as detailed program information is required before you will commit to playing in the 2020-21 season. We’re optimistic that we will have some answers for you by August 31st and are confident that we will be able to provide the right balance of safety, development and fun no matter what level your player participates in. We will communicate more information as soon as it is available so that you may confidently make your registration decision.
