House League Registration is NOW OPEN!REGISTER NOW

Good evening Humber Valley,

It is with mixed emotion that I reach out today. By now, you have likely heard that in the interest of public health, our governing body the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) announced yesterday that the 2020-21 hockey season has been postponed until January 4, 2021. You can read the press release here.  This announcement affects all ages and levels of sanctioned hockey in Toronto from house league to AAA and means that all Humber Valley on and off ice sanctioned/insured activities are suspended.

We know that our members will meet this news with a range of emotions.  While we appreciate how difficult this is, we are supportive of the GTHL’s decision and have now shifted our focus to understanding and mitigating the impact on our members and operations, working with the GTHL to gain clarity on a number of outstanding questions and planning for a potential January start at Humber Valley.

What does this mean for players registered with Humber Valley?
At this time, there is no action required for players who wish to hold their spot and see how this situation unfolds. Your registration will carry over to January and we will provide ongoing updates on the status of return-to-play. In the event that the season is canceled, full refunds or credits will be issued to all members. You will not be penalized financially and will receive the full value of your registration fee when the time comes.

However, we know that the ongoing uncertainty coupled with the ever evolving public health situation may lead families to want to withdraw their registration.  Anyone that wishes to do so is asked to send a written request to admin@humbervalleyhockey.com.  Refunds will be processed by cheque over the next few weeks.

Finally, I know that you may still have unanswered questions. I encourage you to visit the GTHL’s return-to-play FAQ page on an ongoing basis. New information will be posted as it comes available. In the meantime, your Board of Directors is working to get answers to questions that have already come our way. Please know that we are working diligently to gain clarity on your behalf and I ask for your patience while we get there. I promise to be in touch soon with another update.

Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these uncharted waters,

Steve Allmen
President, Humber Valley Hockey Association
