Registration for 2023-24 hockey season opens in the spring!Sign-up to be notified

Hello Humber Valley families,

I hope this note finds you well.  I wanted to take this opportunity to say hello and provide some brief updates on our club and the status of return-to-play.

Return-to-Hockey

We are in constant communication with our governing bodies on the status of return-to-play.  Although nothing is certain, we have started to prepare for the reopening of our club in the fall. Given the current public health situation, it is not possible to provide a firm start date or final details regarding what our programs will look like.  What I can promise you, is that when we are able to reopen, we will be ready, and we will offer programming that elevates fun and development and also adheres to the public health requirements at that time.

House League Registration

We are targeting opening our house league registration system in the late spring or early summer.  When we open our system, registration will be risk free/no fees until we know when the season will begin.  The earliest possible start for our house league programs is mid October 2021.  Although fees are not yet determined, they will be prorated if the season is postponed or shortened.  We will provide ongoing updates through email and information will be posted to our website as it comes available.

Competitive Development & Select Programs

Tryouts for our CDP (U9 and below) and Select (U10 and older) programs will commence in late September 2021 pending the final go ahead from public health and the GTHL. This timing is consistent for all clubs in Ontario.  As details are firmed up, we will send notices to all families via email and will post all details on the CDP/Select pages of our website. In the meantime, questions regarding these programs may be sent to Grant Henderson at ghenderson@humbervalleyhockey.com.

Sharks A & AA Competitive Programs

Tryouts for all competitive programs in Ontario are scheduled to begin as early as September 6th, 2021, pending the public health situation at that time. This timing is dictated by our governing bodies and is consistent for all ages and clubs throughout the province. We will post final coaching information to our website in the coming weeks, and provide updates throughout the summer to ensure that all families have relevant and timely information regarding tryouts. You may also reach out to Jamie Toguri at jtoguri@humbervalleyhockey.com with questions regarding our competitive programs.

The Future of Hockey at Humber Valley

While we prepare for a return-to-play at Humber Valley, we also continue to plan for the long-term future of our club.  This includes advancing our strategic initiatives to ensure that we remain a top destination for minor hockey in Toronto. One critical area of importance is diversity, equity & inclusion.

We are humbled to say that we have established a diversity, equity and inclusion committee that will look at our organization honestly, and critically.  These individuals are committed to forging a path forward, that ensures a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment at Humber Valley. They will establish a plan and take necessary action to drive important change within our organization. While we are in the early stages of this process, we are excited about what it means for the future of our club and we will continue to provide updates on our progress. This committee is always open to welcoming new volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to bwitkowski@humbervalleyhockey.com.

On behalf of your Board of Directors, I want to thank you for your unrelenting patience and support as we continue to navigate the uncertainty of this situation.  We wish you safety and health in the coming months and hope to convey good news about a return-to-hockey very soon.

Sincerely,

Steve Allmen
