It is with great excitement that Humber Valley Hockey Association (“HVHA”) and George Bell Hockey Association (“GBHA”) unveil the Toronto West Hockey League (“TWHL”). The TWHL symbolizes a landmark collaboration poised to redefine the standards of U10+ house league hockey in the west end of Toronto for the 2024-2025 season and beyond. The partnership unites two of West Toronto’s oldest and largest hockey associations, underscoring a shared dedication to promoting sportsmanship, skill development, and community engagement.
Beginning in Fall 2024, players U10+ who are enrolled at HVHA or GBHA house league divisions will unite to compete in the TWHL, a brand-new house league situated in Etobicoke. With an unwavering commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences for house league players, the TWHL anticipates accommodating a thriving community of over 350 participants, ranging from U10 to U18.
The 2024-2025 season will kick-off with skill evaluations in early October 2024, followed by games beginning late October and running through the end of March 2025. Games will be played at Central arena and George Bell arena.
Expected program highlights include:
- Weekly games,
- Sunday evenings for U10/U11,
- Monday evenings for U12/U13,
- Sunday evenings for U14/U15, and
- Tuesday evenings for U16/U17/U18
- Indoor and outdoor skill development sessions for the U10-U13 ages, with indoor sessions occurring Saturday mornings and outdoor sessions hosted on a weekday evening,
- Weekday evening outdoor skill development sessions for U14-U18 ages,
- Mid-season tournaments,
- Expanded playoff formats, and
- Opportunities abound for older participants to share their expertise by serving as instructors for younger skill development sessions, providing valuable leadership experience while fostering a sense of community within the program.
Registration for the 2024-2025 season will open the week of April 15th. All registrations, regardless of whether they are through HVHA or GBHA, will be amalgamated in Fall 2024, with team formations occurring after the evaluation skates.
Please note: All other HVHA programs, including U9 and under (house league and CDP), Select and GTHL programs will remain unchanged and continue under Humber Valley Hockey Association. This announcement refers strictly to the U10+ house league program.
