October at Humber Valley 🏒
October is here and another hockey season is officially underway at Humber Valley!
Our House League season kicked off this past weekend, and it was great to see our youngest players back on the ice and our rinks buzzing with activity. Meanwhile, our CDP, Select and A/AA Sharks have been busy over the past month, participating in early bird tournaments and getting ready for their regular seasons to begin.
They’ve certainly started the season on a strong note, with several of our Sharks teams already bringing home early bird tournament championships. We’re excited to celebrate those accomplishments in this month’s Winner’s Circle.
There’s lots happening across Humber Valley as we get into the heart of the season, so let’s get into this month’s updates.
🏒 Jr. House League Update
The Junior House League program kicked off another season this past weekend with our U5-U9 players hitting the ice for their first practice session with Stride Hockey! We are so happy to see so many returning players, and equally happy to welcome all of our new families. It will be fun to watch everyone develop over the course of the season.
Our new Coordinator, Jules, was on site handing jerseys and socks, and greeting all of our house league families.
On Sunday we ran our first ever on ice testing for the U8/U9 division with Central Hockey Academy. Players took part in various stations that measured agility, skating speed, shot speed, and more! This new initiative will give players and families some baseline metrics as to where they are at now and then, with further testing, where they get to after a season on the ice. It’s all for fun, but is a great way to actually measure how much development really takes place over just one hockey season.
If you are still curious about Junior House League but haven’t signed up yet we still have space and would love to have you join us!
🏒 Select Update: The Season Is Underway!
After a busy September filled with exhibition games and early-season tournaments, our Select teams officially kicked off their MHL regular season this past weekend!
Humber Valley Select teams compete in the Mississauga Hockey League (MHL), with games played at George Bell Arena and rinks throughout Mississauga.
We’re looking forward to a great season ahead and wish all of our Select Sharks the best of luck!

🦈 CDP, Select & GTHL Players Wanted
The season may be underway, but there are still opportunities to join the Humber Valley Sharks! We currently have teams from U8 through U18 looking to fill open roster spots across our programs.
If you’re still looking for a team for the 2026–27 season, or know a player who might be a great fit, check out our current Players Wanted postings for available opportunities.
🦈 Sharks Swag Swap Success
Another Sharks Swag Swap is in the books, and once again our Humber Valley community came through!
Thanks to everyone who donated, shopped, swapped and volunteered, we raised more than $1,200 for Daily Bread Food Bank. Just as importantly, plenty of gently used hockey equipment and Sharks gear found new homes and will get another season of use.
A huge thank you to the volunteers who helped organize and run the event, and to all the families and community members who stopped by and supported the cause.
Great gear, less waste and more than $1,200 back into our community! We’d call that a win! 💙🏒
🏒 New This Season: HeyCoach

We’re excited to welcome HeyCoach as a new Humber Valley development partner for the 2026–27 season, bringing additional off-ice development support to 27 Sharks teams from U10 and up across our GTHL and MHL programs.
As part of our continued focus on whole-player development, HeyCoach gives our athletes access to age- and skill-appropriate programming beyond the rink, covering fitness, nutrition, recovery, mindset and skills.
For players, that means clear guidance and activities they can work on away from the rink. For coaches, it provides additional tools to support player development without adding to their workload. And for families, it offers greater visibility into what their player is working on and how they can support their development at home.
As HVHA President Ross Bitove explains:
“As part of our broader mandate around overall player development, we are always on the lookout for ways our teams can better manage off-ice activities. HeyCoach has the ability to lighten the load on our coaches while giving all our players a range of off-ice tools to improve their game.”
We’re excited to bring HeyCoach to our Sharks this season and continue expanding the development opportunities available to our players.

Here’s to a Great Season Ahead
As we settle into the season, I want to thank everyone who continues to make Humber Valley such a great hockey community. From our coaches and volunteers giving their time, to our families supporting from the stands, and of course our players bringing their energy to the rink each week, it takes all of us to make the season a success.
There’s lots of hockey ahead, and we’re looking forward to another great month of development, competition, fun and Humber Valley pride.
See you at the rink!
