Welcome to the 2024-25 Hockey Season!
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful summer! As we kick off another exciting season, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and those joining Humber Valley for the first time. The season is already underway for some of our players with CDP prep and evaluation skates in full swing, and our GTHL and Select teams starting practices and gearing up for Early Bird Tournaments in the coming weeks. We’re looking forward to another fantastic year filled with skill development, teamwork, and memorable moments on the ice!
Junior House League Update – U5 to U9
Our Junior House League season kicks off on October 5th at Long Branch Arena! Times will vary by age group, with the youngest players going earliest. Full schedules and team assignments will be shared via TeamSnap about a week before the start date.
We’re excited to have Stride Hockey returning to run the program! Extra Sunday gameplay at Cwench Centre (formerly Canlan Etobicoke) will be on a rotation, with details on TeamSnap once the season begins.
We are still looking for coaches and on-ice volunteers to support our young players. If you’re interested, please contact Caitlin Evans at cevans@humbervalleyhockey.com.
Toronto West Hockey League (TWHL) Update
Registration for the inaugural season of the TWHL is off to a strong start, and we’re approaching our initial goals with 6-8 team divisions for U11 and U13, and 4-team divisions for the older age groups.
On-ice evaluations are scheduled for late September to early October. We’ll share team formations and schedules soon. Additionally, we’ll be reaching out shortly for volunteer coaches and to accommodate friend requests.
Questions related to our TWHL House League program may be directed to Jeff Boyes at jboyes@humbervalleyhockey.com. Stay tuned for more updates!
Competitive Development Program Update
Last week, all families who indicated an interest in our CDP program at the time of registration received information outlining the details regarding upcoming prep and evaluation skates. Prep skates wrap up, while evaluation skates kick-off this week and continue through the end of September.
To ensure the success of our program, we are still looking for coaches and volunteers, especially for our U7 teams. If you’re interested in coaching or volunteering, or for more information on our CDP program, please reach out to Emily Chiang at echiang@humbervalleyhockey.com.
Select Hockey Update
Humber Valley’s Select Division is gearing up for another championship season! Once again, our Select teams will compete in the Mississauga Hockey League, offering convenient arena locations and scheduling. New this season—three of our teams, U12, U13, and U15, have moved up to compete at the “A” level, a testament to the dedication of our coaches and our player development programs.
Players Needed: Our U14 team has open spots for additional skaters. For more information, please contact Grant Henderson at ghenderson@humbervalleyhockey.com.
GTHL Update
This season, Humber Valley will proudly field 17 teams in the A and AA divisions from U10 to U18. Our teams are kicking off the season this month by competing in early bird tournaments ahead of the regular season, which begins in mid-October.
We’re still looking to add a few players to our rosters—check out the player wanted ads here: A/AA Players Wanted.
